Most of, if not all who read this, think that Abraham being justified by faith, means that he just trusted God, you think God spoke in an audible voice. Isaiah said, For since the beginning of the world, F O R S I N C E T H E B E G I N N I N G O F T H E W O R L D, men have NOT heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen… the ear is what we hear audible things with.
So, I say what about, “the hearing God”? See, anything that God says, reveals, shows to us, comes with, understanding, knowledge, wisdom, confirmation, affirmation, verification, proof, evidence, of what is being revealed, because that is what the Word of God is, because of whose mouth it comes from. But, the “evidence”, may not yet be seen, but, emphatically, you WILL receive the evidence, and know it to be absolute truth. There is so much more to the statement, Abraham believed God.
Noah, being warned of God, of things not seen…, by faith, which IS evidence of things not seen, which cometh by the hearing of the Word of God. Noah did not READ this warning! It was NOT part of “scripture” yet. He heard a Word from God about what was coming. Abraham did trust God, because of what God’s Word, from His mouth, is and does. (Isaiah 55:11, Hebrews 4:12) Abraham was justified by faith, which means he “heard” God, Genesis 26:5, Because that Abraham obeyed my voice…, which means his heart was not one of stone/hardened.
Exodus 15:26, And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. IT IS ALL ABOUT HEARING HIS VOICE, which speaks the words of God, thus, But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
It is not about studying every scripture in the Bible, it is about a living God having a relationship with His most prized possession, and helping you to have an abundant life, but your whole life must be His, not just trying to work on being a better person, He will transform you into who, what He wants, but you have to listen, you have to A. S. K.; You have to want to serve the living God with all you have, not just live you life and include Him in it where you have the time and inclination. This will do more for your “hearing” than you realize.
God has set it up that those that can hear His voice and receive this faith (confirmation, evidence) of Christ, whom we have not seen, is saved, by the hearing of spiritually distinguished, discerned words, from the mouth of God, which endureth forever, and they include evidence, faith, and this not of yourselves, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD. Romans 4:16, Therefore it is of faith, (through hearing God’s voice) that it might be by grace; (not of ourselves, but the gift of God) to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.
This is what sets us apart from the rest of the world, those that are saved, have received this evidence of His Son, that GOD has testified, through His Spirit to ours, 1st John 5:6, This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
This is why we are children of Abraham, being as we have received like faith, heard God’s voice, which speaks His Word, that is as evidence of things not seen. The words on the pages DO NOT have faith. Hence what Paul told Timothy, 2nd Timothy 3:14-15, But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus; and Jesus is IN us, and if Jesus is IN us, then the Word is IN us, because Jesus IS the Word; John 1:1-4, John 1:14, John 17:5, Revelations 19:13. Faith, evidence, is in the Word, the Word is faith, evidence.
Faith, which is part of God’s Word, is only spiritually received/understood. We were not special or had something that others did or do not, so that we could/can hear the Word of God. If you are indeed saved, born again, it is because your heart was able to receive, your heart was not hardened, one of stone.
Abraham believed God, the Greek word for believed in this verse is pisteuō, and it means, to have faith, it comes from the Greek word pistis which means, persuasion. Faith is not, Not, NOT, what we have been taught to believe. Faith is EVIDENCE, that persuades, but it is evidence that is not seen or heard with the physical ears, or seen with the physical eyes. Hence what Jesus was talking about in Mark 4:12, That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
We are saved, justified, because we heard, or able to receive God’s Word, spoken by His voice, which accomplished what He wills and prospers in the thing whereto He sent it, our dead in sins spirit, to give it life, new life, to be born of God. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (God’s Word, everything that was made was made by the Word); and man became a living soul.
Others have heard, but not understood, seen, but not perceived,… John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. They could hear the vocal speech, they could hear, “THE WORDS THAT WERE COMING OUT OF HIS MOUTH”! But they did not ever understand that He was the Christ, because they could not hear, their witness (John 3:11, 1st John 5:9-10) the Word of God. Jesus spoke only what He received from His Father, John 3:34.
We are missing the power that only comes with receiving from the Father, through His Spirit, which bears witness with our spirit, because the Spirit IS TRUTH. (1st John 2:20, 2:27) Jesus said in John 3:11, Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness. First of all Jesus said, WE, speak, that WE do know, and testify that WE have seen; and you receive not OUR witness. Second, the Greek word for witness is marturia and it means evidence given. The “evidence given” is the word He spoke and the works He did.
John 14:10, Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwelleth in me, HE DOETH THE WORKS. John 6:63, It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profits you ABSOLUTELY nothing, because the Words that I speak, they are spiritual, and they are life. This hasn’t changed for us.
1st John 5:7, For there are 3 that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: AND THESE 3 ARE ONE. The Greek word for record is martureo, and it means, to be a witness.
WITNESS: Testimony; attestation of a fact or event. That which furnishes evidence or proof.
In verse 8 the word witness takes on the same meaning, to be a witness, attesting to facts, furnishing evidence.
In verse 9 and 10 the words witness and record take on a slightly different meaning. The Greek word here is marturia, which means evidence given.
1st John 5:9-10, If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater (and you receive not OUR witness; John 3:11; evidence given, marturia) for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. He that believeth on the Son of God has the witness in himself: he has the witness, evidence given, that God has testified of His Son, in himself; His Word. Remember I said pistis means persuasion, pistis is the Greek word that is used 244 times in the NT, and 239 of those matches are of the same word, FAITH.
Now faith is substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen. EVIDENCE. Faith cometh by hearing the Word of God. That which He has testified of His Son. There are 3 that bear record, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these 3 are ONE. There are 3 that bear record in the earth, the water, the blood, and the Spirit.
But God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit:
For since the beginning of the world:
Men have not heard
nor perceived by the ear
neither has the eye seen
That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear and not understand; because they cannot hear the Word. The bibles cannot reveal to you through your understanding, it is the spoken Word recorded, hence, that which is written, scripture. Everything was first spoken, and every Word of the mouth of God endureth forever, it remains as powerful as the day it was first spoken. When the Spirit reveals to you what YOU need, it is alive and powerful and the Word from His mouth WILL accomplish, in YOU, that which He pleases, it shall prosper in the thing whereto He sent it. We have the Word in us, it is engrafted in us, how, because Christ is in us and He is the Word. John 1:1-4. John 1:14. John 17:5. Revelation 19:13. Read them.
How were you saved, by hearing the Word of the gospel, the way is by hearing the truth, which is life. I am the way, the truth, and the life. You heard the voice of the Good shepard, His sheep hear Him, and they know His voice. You heard the voice, this is how God seperates us from the rest, by hearing the Word from His mouth. You heard the testimony given of God of His Son, and,
I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Not through ink, but by that which is written on your heart by the Spirit of God. Jeremiah 31:33-34. 2nd Corinthians 3:3 & 6. Notice than in theses few scriptures as to how God did things, and how they were NOT done.
